On Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at 8:45 p.m. at Carolinas Hospital System, God saw you through your last dialysis after more than 15 years. Your battle is over my child He said; come on home and take your rest.
Mrs. Margaret “Squeaky” Jordan McCall was born September 24, 1930 in Florence, South Carolina. She was the daughter of Forest and Minnie Sellers Jordan.
She attended the public schools of Florence County.
“Squeaky”, as she was affectionately called, gave her life to Jesus at an early age. She was baptized while a member of St. Beulah Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. O. E. Jackson. She later became a member of Majority Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member of the Gospel Choir and Senior Missionary Board until her health failed. She was also a member of Silver Star Tent #4 of Effingham.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, William “June” McCall; three sons, Michael Jordan, Johnny McCall and Lawrence Jordan; one grandson, Jamal Cobb; and one brother, Charles “Monkey” Jordan.
Left to cherish her precious memories are: three sons, Emanuel (Wildea Joyce) Alston of Hampton, VA; Roy McCall and David (Gwen) McCall, all of Florence, SC; seven daughters, Alice Bethea, Linda Mack and Julie (David) Dargan, all of Florence, SC; Gail (Bennie) Gregg and Cynthia McCall, all of Effingham, SC; Tabetha McCall of Darlington, SC, and Veronica (Louis) Eaddy of Timmonsville, SC; 36 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; one brother, Leroy (Debra) Jordan of Florence, SC; five sisters, Alice Samuel, Neverseen (Stanley) Davis, Priscilla (Marion) Ford and Cora Ford, all of Florence, SC, and Louise (Lewis) Talley of Richmond, VA; one daughter-in-law, Pearl McCall of Darlington, SC; five sisters-in-law, Eunice McCall, Sadie Jordan and Georgeanna McCall, all of Florence, SC; Linda Turner of Meriden, CT, and Tracy McCall of Brooklyn, NY; two brothers-in-law, Rufus McCall of Fredericksburg, VA, and Timothy (Barbara) McCall of Virginia Beach, VA; two adopted daughters, Darlene Quillen and Angie Grimmage of Florence, SC; one adopted son, George Grate of Florence, SC; a close and special friend, Edith Green of Florence, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
